OSCAR NOMINEE,
QUVENZHANE WALLIS (age 10) is the star of the upcoming and remake of the 1982 classic film ANNIE which stared ALILEEN QUINN who played the original character. The movie is set in modern day NEW YORK CITY with a few twists and updated versions of the original film. With new versions of the songs "TOMORROW" and " HARD KNOCK LIFE". The movie is set to be released December 19, 2014, in time for the Christmas holiday.
Quvenzhane makes the perfect choice for the role as Annie, She first appeared to the world in 2012 she was just 6 years old, when she took on the character Hushpuppy in the movie BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD. At six years old it was clear and great to see her master the skill of acting in this emotional, inspirational and excellent film earning her an OSCAR nomination for her work and going down in history as the youngest actress to ever be nominated in the lead actress category. So it comes with no surprise that she will be great in this film and many more to come.

JAY Z and WILL SMITH came together again for another great production. With the success of the hit broadway musical FELA, it's great that they came together with SONY and COLUMBIA PICTURES to help produce the remake of this film.
Who would've thought back in 1998 when Jay-Z released his HARD KNOCK LIFE VOL.2 album and the success of the single HARD KNOCK LIFE (Ghetto Athem) that he was manifesting his fame and now the remake of the classic movie. Jay-Z brought the movie back to life in the late 90's using a sample of the chorus from the song HARD KNOCK LIFE sung in the 1982 movie ANNIE. The song and video tells a story of many kids growing up in the hood some feeling like and even in many cases being orphans like the character Annie.

JAMIE FOXX plays the character Will Stacks, a wealthy mayoral candidate in NEW YORK CITY who wants to use an inner city orphan to better his image. Besides the twist of the names being changed from OLIVER (DADDY) WARBUCKS which in the original film was played by ALBERT FINNEY. It appears to be the same concept as to how Annie appears and stay in the character life. Jamie Foxx take on this updated version of DADDY WARBUCKS seems great.
CAMERON DIAZ revised the role of MISS HANNIGAN, the owner of the orphanage where Annie lived. Diaz comes off more comical in this role, the character appears to be more kid friendly in terms of how the movie is set in today's times with twists in fashion, behavior awareness with kids in mind and social media, unlike the original role of Miss Hannigan which portrayed the character as a more abusive, slightly sexual, and a drunk. Miss Hannigan was played by CAROL BURNETT in the original 1982 film. Though Carol Burnett did an excellent job as the character and will always be Miss Hannigan to me, Cameron Diaz seems to do the character justice for this era and generation.
In my opinion the movie looks great and I will be heading to the theater December 19 to check it out.
